12 January, 2015

Senior Partner, Claire Baldock has recently been appointed by AIPPI UK as a member of its council. AIPPI stands for Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle, or International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, an association which dates back to 1897, shortly after the signature of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property in the year 1883.

Although Claire has only recently joined the UK council she has been actively involved with AIPPI at both UK and International level for many years. For example, Claire has been Chair of the AIPPI International Committee responsible for Biotechnology and Plant Sciences since 2008. In addition to this International responsibility, last year Claire chaired the AIPPI UK group in answering working question Q238 concerning the patentability and enforcement of second medical use claims and spoke before an International audience in Toronto on the subject.
