At the heart of any good brand there is a big idea that is simple, memorable and true. For Boult Wade Tennant the big idea is: we aim to work with our clients, not just for them.
This is a statement of what we believe in: exceptional IP advice and exceptional client service. We believe in excellence. As a leading IP firm, we withstand a high level of professionalism. We want our clients to benefit not only from our excellent legal and technical quality, but also from the quality of the service we deliver.
Our culture is collaborative by nature. We believe this makes us different, because our success relies on the contribution of every single member of our firm. As European patent attorneys we work as a single IP firm across our seven offices, from London to Madrid, championing the integrity, innovation and distinctive skills demonstrated by each employee.
As an IP firm, we have identified five core values, which reflect our culture. These values underpin everything we do and help us to deliver our ambition.
Delight: We deliver on our promise of providing a quality service to our clients
Exceed: We provide patent and trade mark advice of the highest quality
Respect: We build integrity, transparency and fairness into every aspect of our work
Strive: We continually challenge ourselves to find better ways of working
Care: We go out of our way to have a positive impact on society and on the environment
Strong leadership is essential for success, and for us, this means leading by example. We promote transparency and collaboration in everything we do, and encourage a sense of ownership among our staff. Everyone takes personal responsibility for playing a part in the firm’s strategy. This means we are more than just a group of exceptional professionals; we are a team, working together to deliver excellence.
At Boult Wade Tennant we are conscious of the environmental impact and legacy we will leave for future generations as well as our responsibility to the wider community. We have an active Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy that includes initiatives to benefit our local community, charitable organisations and promotes employee participation in such organisations.
Part of our commitment has been to create a group of volunteers from across the firm that is chaired by the Chief Operating Officer, Andrew Little. It is this group’s task to ensure we achieve the objectives we have set ourselves in the corporate responsibility strategy. Moving forward they will monitor our performance, year on year, to ensure that we are fulfilling our promises.
We have set ourselves ambitious environmental targets to help us reduce our carbon footprint and help us support businesses that share our environmental values. We aim to reduce our carbon emission by focusing on power saving technologies and increasing the efficiency of our heating, water and lighting systems. We reuse and recycle wherever we can, an example of which is joining forces with East London Community Recycling Partnership, and now actively collect all food waste so that it can be turned into compost for public parks and hospital gardens.
Our patent and trade mark attorneys, at every level, are committed to offering pro bono work to a wide range of organisations. They volunteer their time and expertise to worthy causes that will benefit from their energy and IP knowledge.
Boult Wade Tennant is absolutely committed to equal opportunities and to enhancing the diversity of the IP firm. We believe these principles are important contributing factors to the ongoing future success of the firm. Our culture is built on collectivism. To us this means building a supportive working environment, one where everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential. We believe race, colour, gender, religion or belief, age, sexual orientation, ethnic or national origin are immaterial to our objective of recruiting and retaining the best and brightest people. We encourage a working environment that is based on transparency, trust and respect. Our HR strategy ensures that we are fair to all employees and continually monitor the effectiveness of our inclusion and diversity policy.
