During my academic career, my final year project focused on looking for dark matter signatures from Higgs boson decays at CERN, making use of machine learning (ML) to do so. That drew me to working with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in my career in patents.
Day-to-day, I support clients on determining the patentability of AI-related patents and subsequent prosecution.
The variety of applications for AI in the real world is really fascinating to me. Having worked with clients who have used AI for everything from improving power girds, to streamlining medical diagnosis, and to develop speech recognition software, it’s always interesting to see the different ways in which AI can be used. I am also particularly intrigued by the AI chatbots that are coming up and their seemingly unlimited potential.
