Donna Trysburg is a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney and Senior Associate in the Trade Mark and Domain Names Group, with over 10 years of experience in the intellectual property field. She joined Boult Wade Tennant in 2013 and advises on a wide range of UK, European and international trade mark cases for clients of the firm. Between 2015 and 2020 she was also a European Trade Mark and Designs Attorney and acted for many clients before the European Union Intellectual Property Office. She continues to advise on European trade mark and design matters as a consultant.

A large proportion of Donna’s practice consists of dispute resolution and advisory work, working with trusted associates overseas where necessary. This includes contentious opposition and cancellation proceedings before the UK, EU and overseas trade mark offices, litigation, coordination of multi-jurisdictional disputes, evidence preparation, negotiation and settlement of conflicts and drafting of agreements. She has also successfully acted for clients in a variety of domain name dispute resolution procedures and before the Company Names Tribunal.

Recent work highlights include conducting appeals for a boutique hotel chain client of the firm from the EUIPO Boards of Appeal up to the General Court of the European Union and from the UK Intellectual Property Office up to the High Court. Donna is currently undertaking the Intellectual Property Litigation and Advocacy Certificate at Nottingham Law School with the aim of obtaining the Higher Courts Litigation Certificate, which grants enhanced rights for trade mark attorneys to conduct intellectual property litigation before the civil courts of England and Wales.

Donna also has extensive experience of brand clearance and searching processes, trade mark filing, prosecution and maintenance, portfolio management and strategy, trade mark watching, and enforcement and advisory work for clients in a range of industries, with particular experience of the telecommunications and tech, travel and hospitality and film, television and theatre sectors. She has undertaken several periods of secondment to the in-house legal department of a major telecommunications client of the firm. She regularly undertakes trade mark work on a pro bono basis for non-profit organisations.
