I first became aware of the profession as a teenager when I did some work experience over a summer with a firm in New York. I started as a trainee with a firm in London soon after graduating from Cambridge with a physics degree in 2003. I was attracted by the idea of working at the interface of law and technology, and by the opportunity to engage with engineers and scientists across a wide variety of different technologies and sectors.

I am adept at helping clients protect their ideas in a smarter and more effective way, so that they get the maximum benefit from their innovations. I am perhaps most skilled at understanding a client’s business needs and what is possible to protect and combining those considerations into a patent or set of patents that is useful for years to come.

Recent experience

Assisting Bugaboo in planning and implementing a filing strategy for a variety of new products, working with engineers and the in-house IP team based in the Netherlands and the UK.

Successfully defending an opposition to a key ink cartridge patent at the EPO for Seiko Epson Corporation.

Helping JVC Kenwood to monetise part of a large portfolio of patents, taking into account the potential relevance of selected patents to competitors’ products and their likely market value.
