Qualifications

BA International Law, Nottingham Trent University
BA Intellectual Property Law, Queen Mary University of London

I became interested in a career in trade marks during my undergraduate law degree at Nottingham Trent University where they hosted numerous presentations on the route of qualifying as a trade mark attorney. As I wanted to gain a deeper knowledge of the intellectual property law in general, I proceeded to study for a Masters degree in IP law at Queen Mary with particular focus on trade marks, copyright and geographical indications. As a Trade Mark Assistant at Boult, I’m happy that I can utilise my degrees and apply academic knowledge to develop practical skills.

I like the fact that I work on different types of work every day, from trade mark watching, filing, prosecution to contentious matters. I support partners and other fee-earners which means I get to work with a range of clients from small enterprises to global businesses across different industries and learn from their experience in different client’s sectors.

I enjoy the aspect of drafting a trade mark specification from scratch as it involves researching into client’s specific area and understanding and anticipating what might be of future interest for the client.

I also really enjoy conducting research on the use of the trade mark by a third party prior to deciding whether to take any action or not. I think I’m good at noticing details and patterns and would like to learn more about the different strategies and ways to tackle a matter for the client’s benefit in a contentious matter.
