In the final year of my degree in Aerospace Engineering I had decided that a career in industry was not for me and started considering other career paths. The idea of being of being a Patent Attorney was introduced to me by one of my lecturers and it greatly appealed to me as a way of still using my engineering background, applied in a more varied manner. I started my career with another firm of patent attorneys in London, before moving to Boult.
I enjoy working directly with inventors and being exposed to new innovations in a wide range of technology sectors meaning that I am constantly learning. I particularly enjoy working with new start-ups, guiding them through the process and helping them identify their key inventions and finding the optimal solution for them.
The aspect of the work I enjoy most is the drafting process, starting with the initial idea from the client and working with them to produce the develop the new application and achieve the best possible output.
