I joined Boult after graduating from the University of Oxford with an MBiochem in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry. My master’s research project involved CRISPR gene editing in mammalian cells and nanopore sequencing to study transposable element expression in neural progenitor cell differentiation.
I decided to pursue a career in the patent profession after exploring contentious cases surrounding the use of a range of technologies I encountered during my studies, which revealed the importance of precise patent drafting in ensuring the best protection for these inventions. I was particularly drawn not only towards the wide variety of technologies that a patent attorney deals with, but also the detail and level of understanding required to support clients.
I enjoy the process of deducing how new biological processes and inventions work and the benefits they provide. I am excited to continue this in a commercial and legal context with the range of clients that Boult works with.
