  • Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, Queen Mary University of London
  • PhD Applied Mathematics, Newcastle University
  • Masters Theoretical Physics, University of Leeds

I am a Patent Assistant at Boult and hold a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Newcastle University, with my research focusing on quantum optics, condensed matter, and quantum technology.

Towards the end of my PhD I wanted to look for a career outside of academia which would retain science as a focus. I found that what I had enjoyed most in my academic career was the opportunity to challenge myself by learning something new and applying it to problems daily. This led me to pursuing a career in intellectual property and joining Boult.

I am most skilled in the ability to comprehend new ideas and concepts quickly, scientific writing and organisation. I assist with the preparation, filing and prosecution of patent applications in the UK, Europe and worldwide. It’s a fast-paced environment and the variety of innovations I am exposed to in my work is something I find interesting.
