Role overview
Boult Wade Tennant, an award winning, top tier IP firm, is seeking a high-calibre fully or part qualified Patent attorney to join our biotechnology and pharmaceuticals teams.  The role is based in our Cambridge team, but we promote and support hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

Candidate profile
We are ideally looking for a candidate with pharmaceutical and life sciences experience to support a range of clients across diverse subject areas. A technical background that includes organic/medicinal chemistry would be valuable. Our work is highly varied and includes freedom to operate and validity assessments, EPO opposition and appeal, patent drafting and worldwide prosecution for a variety of clients. We pride ourselves on providing pragmatic, contextual, advice and seek a candidate able to demonstrate the relevant communication skills and commercial acumen to seamlessly integrate into our team.

For qualified candidates we are committed to helping our attorneys to continually develop their professional expertise and practice, including providing internal seminars and supporting attendance at suitable external events. For part qualified candidates, full training and support will be provided towards the qualifications of Chartered Patent attorney and European Patent attorney. Training comprises practical experience gained working alongside partners and qualified attorneys on client matters and internal and external seminars, tutorials and courses. Consequently, our attorneys have an enviable pass-rate in all finals examinations.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in the patent profession (in private practice or in-house).
  • A minimum of 136 UCAS points from your post-16 qualifications.
  • A minimum of a 2.1 degree in a relevant subject area.
  • Excellent communication skills and commercial acumen.
