Insights: Practice Update: Entry into Operation of the UPC

The preparatory committee for the UPC has announced that the target date of entry into force of the UPC in December 2017 will now not be met. The UK was unable to ratify the agreement prior to the dissolution of Parliament and the general election in June 2017. It is not clear whether the new UK government will ratify the agreement prior to Parliament’s summer recess. Germany has already indicated that they will not ratify until the UK has done so.
