Tier one UK firm, Boult Wade Tennant, has announced the appointment of Jason Rutt, who has joined the firm’s Biotechnology and Life Sciences Group, as a Patent Attorney. The appointment is not only a reflection of the continuous growth of this group but clearly demonstrates the firm’s commitment to maintain its market-leading position. The biotechnology and life sciences sector is witnessing fast-paced change and this role will address the increasingly complex challenges faced by clients, guiding them through major developments in the market.

Jason has a wealth of experience in the global patent drafting and prosecution practice. He has been heavily involved in all aspects of working with the EPO, including prosecution, opposition, appeal and oral proceedings. He is particularly well-versed in licensing due diligence and the IP aspects of R&D collaborations, as well as providing advice on freedom to operate on commercial products.
Jason’s extensive knowledge of pharma R&D makes him well placed to advise SMEs in the life sciences area. In addition, his substantial emerging market experience in China, ASEAN Russia and Middle East will bring tremendous value to the firm’s growing international practice.
Prior to joining Boult Wade Tennant, Jason was Head of the UK Patent department at Rouse. He also worked for over ten years in the patent department of Pfizer, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, being promoted to Head of the UK Patent department during this time.
Jason will be based in Boult Wade Tennant’s London office.
