Members of the Group can arrange for trade mark searches in the UK or overseas to check whether registration of a new brand name or house mark will be possible and can put in place regular trade mark watches to help clients to police their marks. Our attorneys also negotiate agreements with third parties such as for the buying or selling of trade mark rights prior to entry into a market or bipartite agreements between holders of similar marks. They also regularly negotiate licensing agreements and have particular strengths in the field of merchandising.

The Group provides advice on all aspects of trade mark infringement including the infringement of unregistered marks. Our attorneys have extensive experience of working in conjunction with outside agencies, such as the Trading Standards Office, which has powers to impound counterfeit goods and can provide a fast and cost-effective way to curtail infringement. They are also experienced in UK High Court litigation and in the management of litigation throughout Europe.

Our Trade Mark and Domain Name team also advise on domain names and the IP issues surrounding them. Our attorneys provide advice on name and domain selection, registration, renewals and portfolio management and they handle domain name dispute resolution.
