Birgit Clark
Registered and European Trade Mark Attorney Special Experience
Birgit joined Boult Wade Tennant in 2006 and is a member of the Trade Mark and Domain Name Group. Working mainly for corporate clients, she has substantial experience with the management of large overseas portfolios and the filing and prosecution of international trade mark applications. Birgit also has extensive experience in relation to prosecution and opposition work before the UK and Community Trade Mark offices and a particular interest in contentious work. Birgit has published extensively in the field of intellectual property law in both English and her native German. She also publishes in the field of privacy and personality rights, having published her doctoral thesis in this field. Birgit frequently speaks on intellectual property issues. In 2009, she spoke at the CIPA congress on AdWords and at the INTA roundtable on trade mark dilution law. In 2010, she spoke at the IPKat weblog's seminar on the European Court of Justice's ruling in Google France, Google Inc. v Louis Vuitton Malletier. She is a member of the MARQUES Class 46 weblog on European trade mark law, the IPKat weblog on intellectual property law, and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice ("JIPLP", Oxford University Press). A German qualified lawyer (Rechtsanwalt), Birgit holds an LL.M. (Commercial Law) from the University of Aberdeen and a Doctorate in Law (Dr. iur.) from the University of Tübingen, Germany. Birgit is a member of GRUR (the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property), the BGJA (British German Jurists' Association) and a member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys.
