4 January, 2017

It has been announced that the EPO Boards of Appeal will relocate during the Summer of 2017. The new Board of Appeal building is in Haar, a suburb of Munich, and is some distance from the centre of the city and from the other EPO buildings. We therefore recommend that you speak with your usual Boult Wade Tennant advisor for specific information should you need to attend the new Board of Appeal building.

The relocation follows a number of changes to the organisational structure of the EPO Boards of Appeal, which came into force as of 1 January 2017. These changes create a new Boards of Appeal Unit encompassing the Technical, Legal and Disciplinary Boards, as well as the Enlarged Board of Appeal. The Unit will be managed by the President of the Boards of Appeal, who also serves as the Chairman of the Enlarged Board.

The first President of the Boards of Appeal elected by the Administrative Council is Carl Josefsson, who takes office from 1 March 2017.
