Graduate / Post Graduate Recruitment
Boult Wade Tennant usually takes on several graduates or post-graduates each year to train as Registered Patent Attorneys and European Patent Attorneys. Some may also be trained as Trade Mark Attorneys.
Those wishing to train as a Patent Attorney must have a good degree (2.1 or above) in a technical discipline such as electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry or physics. Language skills are advantageous, especially French and German as, in addition to English, these are the two languages of the European Patent Office.
We look for personable applicants with a good academic record who have the ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
Training
To assist our trainees in passing their examinations, we provide a high level of in-house training. Trainees gain practical experience working alongside partners on client matters and this experience is supplemented by internal and external seminars, tutorials and courses.
Our trainees attend the Queen Mary and Westfield College "Certificate of Intellectual Property Law course". We also provide French and German tuition.
Examinations
Our trainees take the examinations of the UK Professional Institute, the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents and the European Patent Office. These examinations lead to the qualifications of Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney.
Employment Package
We offer competitive salaries at all stages during and beyond qualification. Boult Wade Tennant's employment package currently includes an annual holiday bonus, medical care subscription, pension and season ticket loans. The annual leave entitlement is 20 days.
