Boult Wade Tennant developed from the practice of Alfred Julius Boult who made his first patent application in 1877. He opened an office in London in 1881 and was joined in partnership by Harold Wade in 1894. William John Tennant became a partner in the firm in 1898 and in 1906 the name of the firm became Boult, Wade & Tennant. The name was shortened to Boult Wade Tennant in 1993.
Today the firm is one of the larger UK-based firms of attorneys, with many experts in every aspect of intellectual property.
Boult Wade Tennant has grown significantly since the early days. However, the underlying commitment remains the same: to care for the intellectual property interests of clients to the highest professional and technical standards; and to use a combination of technical expertise, commercial knowledge and a clear understanding of clients interests and objectives, to provide a quality service adapted to specific needs.
The firm advises a broad range of corporate organisations worldwide
including a large number of British and multinational companies spanning
the industrial, research, retail, manufacturing, financial and service
industries. We also act for academic institutions, research laboratories,
other public sector organisations and a large number of individuals and
small family firms. Furthermore, we assist a significant number of
professional firms, such as overseas attorneys, solicitors and accountants,
in providing intellectual property services to their clients.
